Getting Back Into Driving

Hello, I passed the test about 10 years ago and haven't driven much since. I really want to get back into it and know that it is going to be like learning again from scratch.

Can anyone give me any advise on how to go about it and how I can find an instructor that specialises with this sort of thing? I know that it is going to be tough and I will need a lot of lessons.

I am now 37 and I am also probably autistic which deeply impacts on my ability to learn practical things. I will need to find an instructor which understands this. I am also limited in the hours when I can take lessons as I am only available evenings and weekends. I hope to be able to do a couple of hours a week and I am expecting it to take years before I can actually drive properly.

Can anyone advise me?

Re: Getting Back Into Driving

I bring only good news.

You may be very surprised at how quickly and easily slot back into driving.

Almost everybody who has passed thier test, mathematics not drive for years, have the same fears as you.

In reality, after a couple of hours, they drive pretty well.

Any instructor will be able to help you, just phone around and tell them you want a few refresher lessons.

Remember, there is no test to aim for this time, so no pressure, just enjoy and drive where you want. I would encourage you to ask for an hour or two of motorway  driving as well.
