Re: RED Driving School and LVG

Noticed that they are advertising on tv (well Sky Sports News - obviously the best channel on tv) again for more instructors and still advertising £30000.  I don't have any concerns with tv advertising and have trained with RED and worked for them previously (unsuccessfully).  What I do have a problem with though is them still advertising earnings of £30000+ when we know its not realistic and people are effectively being mislead.

Whilst I understand both sides of the arguments something needs to be done regarding the adverts and their promises.  It's the same with all these pay day loans and plumbing courses - there are some people who won't look at the small print, won't research these companies and take what they see whether in the paper or on tv as fact.

ASA held a hearing and accepted LVG's £30,000 OTE as they produced their calculations and evidence of ADI's earning in excess of £30,000.

Thanks Kevin - however they don't advertise it as OTE or turnover.  People believe what they are told and some wont understand what turnover is etc.  Whilst it is their problem, they should know what they are getting into etc it should be more obvious

Re: RED Driving School and LVG

If you read up on the numerous threads about the £30k offers, gclarke, you'll realise not many ADIs understand the difference between turnover, gross, and nett profit either. That's why this is such a persistent topic.

Red (and most of the others who do it - even the ones who diss Red, and yet make the same offers for their own franchises) say "up to".

If it's just the £30k claims we're talking about, it definitely isn't just Red doing it.

It is possible to gross £30k (I've done it), but you can't rely on it (I've only managed it once).

If it makes you feel like you scored a point, yes, of course that's what it is ADI1234. How could anyone doubt that what I said needed to be corrected with someone's opinion, even though what I said is based on direct facts   roll

£30k NET is the invention of people who haven't got a clue what they are talking about. A true net figure may or may not include personal expense                      is (nothing to do with business) and as such IS virtually impossible (and as long as a piece of string). As I have said many times before.

If you are going to keep bandying "£30k" around then the only thing it can be meaningfully compared with is other GROSS figures for salaried jobs. That way, £30k MEANS £30k - and not the imaginings of an ADI on the breadline, with no pupils, or a PDI badge.

GROSS is before tax and NI AND after essential business costs.

I have done £30k once.

To clarify - just because of ADI1234's unneeded input at a personal level - all the other times I have done £23k-£27.5k.

But it is hard work.

The time is 8.27 AM and I am off to my first lessons. Oooh, and look. I am on the site. Bad Aspyre lol

GROSS is after tax and NI AND after essential business costs.

Gross is  income  BEFORE    any deductions.
Net is what's left after deductions

Re: RED Driving School and LVG

Hi there

I am trying to find out the name of the company that The Instructor College/RED (LVG Limited) used to provide finance to their students? It was arranged for me and I no longer have the paperwork but am trying to contact the finance company whom I paid my money to.

Thanks
Lauren

Would your bank know, or Experian? They might know where your money was going.
