GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

Hi.

My pupil is moving from Northampton to Reading uni and needs an instructor with a grade 5 or 6.

She has had approx 10 hours so far.

Please PM me if you are interested in taking on the pupil.

Thank you

Alan

Just a quick question, why does she need a grade 5 or 6 instructor?

Scan the check test result with the grade in the top right corner and send it.

Re: GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

Why do the Double Standards Agency do everything back to front.

Grade 1 should be the highest grade. Do we have a grade 6 degree pass and call the best pass degree 'a 6th class honours degree' or do we have a Class 6 police driver, does British Rail have 6th class carriages ........and are 6th class citizens better than 2nd class citizens  big_smile

Re: GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

Just a question would you put your faith in a Grade 6 who has been qualified for 2 years or a grade 4 who has been qualified for 6 or 7 years and has a good reputation locally and is very busy.

A pupil would almost certainly go for an ADIs reputation as 99% of pupils are totally unaware of ADI grading and even if they had heard of ADI grades they probably wouldnt know that a 6 was a higher grade than a 4.

Re: GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

It seems to me that it is a perfectly reasonable request from an ADI in Northampton who is possibly a Grade 5 or 6 and knows about the grading system.
He wishes to pass on a pupil, who doesn't know, nor needs to know about the grading system to an ADI in Reading.
He has told the pupil the new ADI will be of a similar Grade to himself.

Hardly earth shattering

Trunkmonkey most of what you say may be valid points but when you say, "hardly earth shattering", to you maybe but those ADIs who are a grade 4 it is probably very insulting.

Re: GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

It certainly isn't meant by me to be insulting or demeaning.

In any walk of life you have a job description of the person you want for a position. If you have the credentials you apply.

I'll happily withdraw my final line as I don't wish to offend.

Re: GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

Thanks for the Pm which will be passed onto my pupil tpomorrow.

Her parents particularly wanted a grade 6. I am simply passing on their request.

Thanks for your replies

Why is it 'probably very insulting'?

If a job wanted 'O' levels, would someone with CSEs find that insulting?

As TM has said, if someone does not know individuals what on earth is wrong with wanting the higher qualified?

Re: GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

Nobody is sneering at a grade 6.

But what is the evidence that every grade 4 instructor is worse at preparing real life drivers?

The system is far from foolproof isn't it?

Re: GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

Grade 4s of 3 years or 15 years experience may well have a full diary and good pass rate but how well prepared are their candidates for life after the test?  Good Grade 4s who adapt, update themselves and seek to improve constantly will escalate their status up the scales to a 5 or 6.

So if a grade 6 has a bad checktest and is downgraded to 4 does that mean he/she has become a crap instructor overnight?

Re: GRADE 5 OR 6 ADI NEEDED FOR PUPIL IN READING

I've asked this before and never got an answer, but those schools/organisations that trumpet their superiority by stating that they "only use Grade 5 or 6 instructors"...what happens if an instructor gets a Grade 4 on their next check test?

Do they get the boot without further ado?

Just asking...(*waits for the inevitable "a good instructor would never let their standards slip because they constantly seek to improve themselves so they should never get downgraded etc" - sure but I bet it HAS happened many times...so what's the proceedure?)

BS

There has always been the facility to request another checktest when an ADI was downgraded.     The suggestion that it should now be charged for has only just been made because DSA see it as another income source.
