Just out of interest.....

What is the fastest time anyone has taken to go from initial enquiry with the DSA to fully qualified?

Re: Just out of interest.....

As part of changes to the training system there's a proposal that the Part 1 will be limited to 3 attempts, and also become part of the two year qualification cycle.
Had that already been in place Marco would not have qualified!

I always thought part 1 was three attempts. That is what lets drive told me when I signed up with the course.

I was unable to train for 8 months during the part 2 phase because I had a bad back.

it took me 6 months, 1st time on all three smile only limiting factor was bad weather over past winter and all the postponed tests and having to wait an extra 2 months for part 3 test from when i was aiming for it

I took a year, and that was 8 years ago, actually passed part one in feb, part two in may then part three in dec,  I took 6 weeks out to go travelling in Australia otherwise would have done it quicker.

Re: Just out of interest.....

The qualifying process should not be rushed IMO. All parts are critical to understanding how to do the job properly. Of course it depends on the person but I think the devil is in the detail. If I was doing it again (god help me) I would do lots and lots more reading. Highway code, essential skills to start with, but roadcraft and mind driving been the minimum. Reading around the theory of instructing (driving instructors handbook, and coaching skills) been the absolute minimum!

For part three, practice, a great trainer and all advanced tests you can think of would see you through. A training buddy, course handout/training aids and the best trainer money can buy!

Trouble is I've done it retrospectivly but if I had a time machine I would have done it differently! No doubt!

Re: Just out of interest.....

Enquired with lets drive in Sept 05, passed Pt 1 in November 05, pt 2 in March 06, pt 3 Aug 06 - most of the 5 months doing the pt 3 training was down to delays with Lets drive and their rubbish booking training system!

Hi,

Quickest from initial enquiry to passing Pt3  - all in 16 1/2 weeks but that was before the requirement for disclosure checks.

Hi Disky,

You can't possible count 2nd attempt as 3 weeks to pass - that 's like saying my student passed first time with no minors but I discounted the last two 3 fails!!!!!!!!

Re: Just out of interest.....

I guess it could all be done very quickly if you really go for it. I didn't rush mine but I was doing another job and not really sure if I even wanted to be an instructor so I dragged it out a bit!
