Re: questions for each phase 2 topic??

Just think of your subject and ask a couple of searching questions e.g. for pedestrian crossings - How would you recognize a pedestrian crossing? how would you plan your approach?

You need to interact with the 'pupil' and listen VERY carefully to the answers for any clues as to what the underlying problem may be; if they answer correctly (they usually do)then they have the knowledge, there is no use in continuing to ask questions,  get the car moving and give the 'pupil' an opportunity to demonstrate their competence (or lack of it, as this is normally where you will find problems).

Re: questions for each phase 2 topic??

The whole point of phase 2 is that the client knows something about the subject.  Writing lists might be useful, initially but ultimately the principle is what do they KNOW now, what more do they need to know or Improve by the end?

Eg juctions, what routine? What hazards are there? What controls? What observations? Fill in the gaps the don't know, if something goes well on the move which has improved comment and explain, if a fault occurs, use q&a to see if what they think? And consequences, eg how do you think your speed was there? What Issues did/could it cause AND CORrECT it, try more brake/lifting clutch......

Then follow it up, how was that? Was it safer/better?

The main thing is they need to learn, what do they, what don't they know? Are they self aware? Can they correct It themselves?

Re: questions for each phase 2 topic??

im sorted i think, ive went through all the phase 2 topics and done 3-4 questions for each to draw out their knowledge, this should be a good platform then to go out on the road and watch like a halk and talkthrough as we drive from start to finish...phew!

Be careful, on a phase 2 a very common downfall is over and under instruction. Talkthrough should only be needed occasionally on a phase 2. Usually that will be enough to solve a fault.

Re: questions for each phase 2 topic??

I agree not overinstructing is important, but it may be necessarily to go back to full talk through on areas that are necessary, usually prompts are the best approach though.
