Advanced Test - A bit too much

Is it no wonder that when we try to sell advanced driving tests the pupils run a mile.

Ive just printed the application form for a client and the test fee is £74.00, yet if he takes the 'skill for life' package the whole deal is £99.00.

On top of the £74 he will need to cover my costs of £26.00 per hour we agreed.

Its a little contradiction with regards to what IAMS can offer and what Adis need to charge to make any money.

I realise the test fee goes to the examiner, but its going to be very hard to convince others its worth it.

Re: Advanced Test - A bit too much

Personally I think the IAM Skill For Life package is extremely good value.  (Remember Keith, IAMS is a cat food and probably isn't worth £74 let alone £99) smile

Very little of that test fee goes to the examiner, they are paid peanuts!

Re: Advanced Test - A bit too much

Ok...........I think my post was a little unclear.

Too much paperwork having been on the road all day.

What I meant was the skill for life is £99, and you would think every pupil would take that.

But.........If someone wants just the test then the cost is £74.00, including one years membership, excluding books.

This guys going to fall off his seat when I tell him that the 10 hours he is prepared to pay me and the test fee will cost £334.00.

Re: Advanced Test - A bit too much

So isn't the best advice you can give him to go for the Skill For Life package at £99?

Hiya just my two penneth, the cost of the test is £46.00 this includes a small admin charge, the test itself used to cost £35 untill the membership went up.

The membership itself now costs £28.00. The Examiner only gets a small amount for conducting the test.

I think you will find that £46+£28= £74.

The link you posted does actually state test-and-membership-application-

So sorry I should have made it clearer what I meant. £46 + £28 = £74

Tell your client to go to his local IAM and sign up where it is free for his lessons he will save a lot of money.

Re: Advanced Test - A bit too much

I could also send my learners to the local cheap school of motoring, but no thanks. big_smile

I'll let him make that decision.

Not really the same thing is it Keith?

Unless a client is in a rush to do the test, I wouldn't feel right advising the client to pay me when they could get a good value training scheme through teh local group.  The only down side of training through teh local group may be the waiting time to start if they are busy.
