Re: Problem with Instructor booking test for wrong test centre

RM, she took money under false pretences and then lied to cover up her deception. A crime was committed and putting it right does not alter the fact that a crime was committed.

The police will look into the case and not ignore it as suggested.

Re: Problem with Instructor booking test for wrong test centre

I have come across this kind of thing before where an ADI on a franchise was using pupils money, block bookings and test fees to pay their franchise fee. Robbing Peter to pay Paul as they say which usually ends in the whole house of cards coming crashing down at some stage. The only way to avoid this happening for a pupil is to choose the correct instructor in the first place, someone who is well established in their business and has a successful track record. Very little the OP can do here other than find a new instructor and hope the test date now booked stands.

The police will not be interested.

It would be near impossible to determine if this was with criminal intent or incompetence. Lying to cover up incompetence is not a crime.

It is a civil issue.

You are assuming.  You haven't got a clue about the actual circumstances, as the ADI has not given their side of the story.

Fortunately the justice system in this country allows the accused to put forward a defence before they are convicted of anything, unlike some sections of DTT forum!

As previously stated I am not defending or condoning what the ADI has done, although if I was representing her I would want to hear her version before taking away her livelihood.
Neither will DSA get involved, as there is trading standards and small claims court avenues to deal with it.

I'd still advise reporting it. Fraud is not a civil matter but a criminal matter.

The instructor has done fraud! Charging you for the lesson and use of the vehicle for the test knowing full well that they had messed up the booking.
I would approach your local trading standards.
