Bus training...

Hi all,

Just had an email from someone I gave lessons to a few years back who wants to train to be a bus driver.

What's the best way to go about this?

Chris

Re: Bus training...

Most seem to do it free in house with a company like FIRST which involves working for them for X amount of time

Others will go to a LGV/PCV training school and pay for it themselves

The cost is about the same as doing LGV

Re: Bus training...

yes all the big companies, First, Stagecoach, Arriva etc all train you for free and you won't have to pay anything back as long as you stay with them for a certain amount of time. With First it's 2 years.

Be aware though that all the training these days is carried out in automatic vehicles which may restrict you in the future if you wanted to move to another company.

If you can't do it safely don't do it at all

If you have LGV C manual then doing D in auto will get you D manual

There is a move afoot to allow all auto passes to also be manual if the driver has passed at least one test such as B in a manual but don't hold your breath on that
