SPEED CAMERAS

Hi, i have 2 questions about speed cameras. At which point does the speed camera sends out  it's first flash? Is it at the start of the beginning of the white lines that are located in the middle of the road or is it in the middle.

There are 2 flashes when you get caught for speeding how far between each flash? Half a second?

Thanx

Re: SPEED CAMERAS

The first flash will occur after a set length of time so depending how fast the car is travelling it will occur at a different point along the white lines.

They did this on TOP GEAR several years ago their aim was to find out the required speed for the second flash to be beyond the markings thus escaping fines/points.

Sorry don't know the answer to question 2.

Re: SPEED CAMERAS

First flash is triggered as the camera detects excessive speed. The second is a fixed time period after the first.
The road markings are there to support the camera evidence, as the speed can be calculated due to the known time delay between the pictures and the known distance travelled as evidenced by the white markings.

Re: SPEED CAMERAS

If my memory of TOP GEAR is correct, they calculated the required speed to be beyond the road markings at the time of the second flash was something like 175mph.
